The much acclaimed "Harvester Singers" will sing at the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street, Cortland, Thursday, December 9th from 6:45 to 7:30 PM sharp. The "Harvester Singers," are a soprano, alto, tenor & bass quartet, (with pizaz back-up accompaniment of instruments!), of two young farming couples from Upstate New York: Doug and Linda (née Camp) Eldred, and Doug and Janet Young. The Eldreds are crop farmers; Linda Eldred now runs an organic "U-pick" strawberry farm near Skaneateles and is the daughter of Joyce and David Camp of Cortland. Doug Young grew up in East Homer and is the son of Gerald and Betsy Young. (His brother Stuart, owns the "family farm" in East Homer.)

The Harvesters have been "Singing God's Praises, One Field At a Time," the title of their first CD, for several years throughout Upstate New York. See the website www.theharvesters4him.com for their performance schedule and a sound sample of their CDs. The Harvesters sing in a variety of styles of songs, from Southern Gospel to Contemporary Christian and, of course, the traditional hymns that everyone enjoys, such as, "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)," "How Great is Our God," and "Bow Down." Their second CD, just out, is "Jesus, Savior, Friend." Both CDs will be available for autographing and purchase following the concert ($15 each or 2/$25: check or cash). Proceeds of the CDs go to help with the purchase of sheet music, sound and other equipment, and to those less fortunate. The concert is free and open to all.
